A man is arrested after breaking into Crazy Times bar in Machesney Park and found hiding out on top of a nearby billboard.
Police arrived to the scene shortly before 2:30 a.m. Friday after receiving calls of a burglary in progress. A caller observed the front door window of Crazy Times broken out and footprints were leading away from the bar.
A perimeter was set up in the area by Winnebago County Deputies and a K9 unit was brought in. After an extensive search, the suspect was found laying on top of a billboard on IL 251. He was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital due to exposure to the cold.
The man, identified as James Johnson, 35, of Machesney Park, was treated and released then charged with attempted burglary, possession of burlgary tools, criminal damage to property and possession of cannabis.
He is being held at the Winnebago County Jail.
