Man arrested for Monday shooting faces additional charges for March shooting

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — 29-year-old Mykel Curry, who was arrested Tuesday for a Monday shooting, has been charged with another shooting which took place on March 21st, according to police.

Rockford Police say Curry is the suspect in a shooting which occurred at 2:40 p.m. in the 1900 block of South 4th Street, during which they say he fired shots at a vehicle after an argument. No one was hurt and no one was hit by gunfire.

He was charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm for the incident.

Curry is in custody for a shooting that took place Monday at 2:45 p.m. in the 400 block of 27th Street.

According to police, two black males suspects confronted a resident of the home over a previous dispute. During the confrontation, police say Curry drew a handgun and fired several rounds at the resident, who fired back at the suspects using his own weapon.

The 2nd suspect, a 23-year-old man who was with Curry, was shot in the leg and was taken to the hospital with what police consider non-life threatening injuries.

Curry was arrested Tuesday and charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Use of Weapons by a Felon.
