Man Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges, Accused of Shooting at Victim


A man has been arrested for domestic battery after police say he beat then shot at a victim.

The attack happened at a home in the 1200 block of Sanford Street shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday night. Officers describe it as a “violent attack.” The suspect, identified as Pedro Tinajero, 24, of Rockford, allegedly fired a round from a handgun at the victim following the attack.

The victim was not hit and was not seriously hurt. They managed to escape from the home after the shooting and fled to the Winnebago County Criminal Justice Center to alert police. Their identity is not being released.

Tinajero has been charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated domestic battery.
