Man Falls Asleep Behind the Wheel, Charged with Neglect of a Child

Police arrest a Janesville man after he falls asleep behind the wheel in a grocery store parking lot with a child in his back seat.

Officers dispatched to the Woodman’s on Lexington in Janesville where they found the man, identified as 34-year-old Christopher Buol, slumped behind the wheel. A seven-year-old child was also found asleep in the back seat.

Authorities woke Buol up, who got out of the vehicle, and became uncooperative. He resisted police as they tried to handcuff him, but was eventually taken into custody. One officer suffered minor injuries in the struggle.

Buol faces several charges:

  • Operating while under the influence with a passenger under the age of 16
  • Child neglect
  • Resisting and officer causing injury
  • Three counts of possession of a controlled substance

He is being held at the Rock County Jail.
