An early morning rollover crash in Rock County has left one man dead after the driver was ejected some distance from his vehicle.
The Sheriff’s Department responded to the report of the rollover crash just before 3:30am Monday at South County Highway K and W.. Hafeman Road in the Town of Plymouth southwest of Janesville.
Deputies and Orfordville first responders arrived to find a 2001 Ford F-150 on its roof and unoccupied. A search of the surrounding area found the body of a 25-year-old man who had been ejected from the truck.
The investigation found that he was southbound on County Road K when the vehicle drifted onto the west shoulder. The driver overcorrected, causing the pickup to skid sideways across both lanes of traffic. The vehicle then struck a tree in the east ditch, which caused the vehicle to roll on to its roof and come to rest.
The 25 year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and he was not wearing a seat belt. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
The rural road was closed for about 5 hours.
