UPDATE (October 2, 2017) – Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz has released the name of the man killed during a shooting in Rockford Sunday afternoon.
He is Keyuan Garden, 25, of Rockford. He died as a result of a gunshot wound to the back. His death remains under investigation.

The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office confirmed the young man’s death at MercyHealth.
The victim’s name is not being released at this time.

UPDATE – Rockford police are investigating after a man was shot in the back.
The shooting happened just before 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon in the 3200 block of Glenwood Avenue near Summerdale Elementary School.
Police on scene say they believe the victim was sitting in a car when he was shot.
Officials say the victim is a 25-year old black male, and is currently at a local hospital suffering from life-threatening injuries.
