A suspect, wanted out of Rockford, was arrested early Wednesday morning in Loves Park.
Rockford, Loves Park and Winnebago County police all responded to the Clayton House Motel in the 4800 block of N. 2nd Street Tuesday night after detectives received information that a suspect, accused of shooting a 27-year-old-man in the stomach on Auburn Street on Monday, was staying there.
Authorities were able to confirm that the suspect, Damonte Hill, 27, was staying at a specific room at the motel. When they made contact with him, he refused to respond. Crisis negotiators and a SWAT Unit were called in to assist.
After more than eight hours, Hill peacefully surrendered to police and was placed under arrest. He’s charged with aggravated battery with a firearm.
