A Rockford man was taken into custody at Fairgrounds Valley Housing Complex after fleeing police and possessing a weapon.
Shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 5th, a Rockford Police Housing Authority Unit patrol spotted a man behaving “suspiciously” in the 300 block of Leather Court. When officers made contact with the man, he ran.
Officers chased him down and took him into custody in the 1000 block of Hess Court. He was identified aa Mario Williams, 26. Police say they found an unlicensed handgun in Williams’ possession.
He was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID card, and Resisting a Police Officer.
Williams was taken to the Winnebago County Jail. No bond has been set.
