LEE COUNTY - UPDATE - The vehicle wanted man Lowell "Max" Ambler allegedly car-jacked, and a person matching his description, were spotted in LaSalle County Wednesday afternoon around 3 p.m.
Police say the man who may be Ambler was seen running from a hunting blind in a wooded area of rural Earlville. Several police agencies are now actively searching the area for the suspect.
Police in Lee County are searching for a former LaSalle County deputy they consider to be armed and dangerous.
Authorities have been looking for Lowell "Max" Ambler since Sunday. Wednesday morning, they say Ambler car-jacked a vehicle in Plainfield, Illinois. He allegedly removed the driver at gunpoint and stole the vehicle.
It is a maroon Hyundai Sante Fe with Illinois license plates S785884.
Ambler is wanted for a parole violation after he recently tried to contact the mother of a teenage girl he allegedly tied up and kidnapped. Police say that incident happened last month in Compton, Illinois.
He faces home invasion and kidnapping charges in connection to that case.
