Martin Luther King Scholarship Competition Kicks Off This Weekend

The Martin Luther King Jr. scholarship breakfast and oratorical contest kicks off Saturday, Jan. 14th at the Radison Hotel. It’s presented by the MAL Leadership Foundation, a non-profit organization of “Mu Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Fraternity.”

Martin Luther King Jr. was a member of “Alpha Phi Alpha” and it’s dedicated in his honor.

Four high school seniors will speak on the theme “Leadership Honoring the Obama Legacy.” The scholars will receive scholarships ranging from $500-$1,500.

Rockford Mayor Morrissey and Winnebago County Chairman Frank Haney are expected to speak.
