McDonald’s announced Tuesday that it will be spending approximately $317 million to modernize its Illinois restaurants, adding updated dining room decor, digital self-order kiosks, remodeled counters, menu boards and parking spots.
McDonald’s franchisees are said to be investing $6 billion in total to modernize most of the company’s U.S. restaurants by 2020.
The company said the renovations will include decorating their dining rooms with globally and locally inspired art and new furniture.
The digital self-order kiosks and newly remodeled counters will allow “guests the opportunity to relax while their food is being made.”
New digital menu boards will be installed both inside and at the drive-thru.
