McHenry Man Convicted on Child Pornography Charges

A McHenry man has been found guilty of child pornography charges following a four-day trial in federal court in Rockford.

Michael Chaparro, 29, was charged with one count of transporting child porn via the internet, and two counts of accessing child porn that crossed state lines, including an image of a minor under 12 years old.

According to the indictment, on August 7, 2014, Chaparro transported child pornography to Pennsylvania and Texas that contained one or more minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

He also accessed a smart phone in November of 2014 and a hard drive in July 2013 with the intent to view child porn.

Chaparro faces a minimum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count.
