Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara says incoming Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has a tough road ahead of him.
It’s been nearly two months since McNamara was selected by Pritzker to serve on his transition team, on the Budget and Innovation Committee.
McNamara says there’s going to be a lot of work to do when it comes to the state budget.
He says a lot of that will revolve around regaining the trust of local municipalities that were shorted money during the state’s budget crisis.
“I would say, broadly, I’d like him to make sure that…J.B. and [Lt. Governor] Juliana are working to rebuild those relationships, and really become that strong, stable partner that municipalities across the country look to, in the states in which they reside,” McNamara said.
Mayor McNamara also says he hopes the new governor will work toward finding a solution to the pension crisis.
