Community members paid their respects to three high school students lost in a car crash on Monday night.
A makeshift memorial marks the spot where the accident happened Friday afternoon. Mourners have left balloons and flowers. The victims were 16-year-olds Gage Noble, Anya Teasdale, and 15-year-old Joseph Wyss.
Police say the car the teens were driving ran through a stop sign at Melvin and Clarno Road in the town of Clarno, just south of Monroe, where they hit a truck. Rescue crews took a woman from the truck to the hospital. She was released Sunday.
“These are our children,” said Green County Sheriff Mark Rohloff. “We all agree with the parents. We wish we could do something more for them. But, the community is going to come together and rally.”
Sheriff Rohloff says this is the first deadly crash in Green County this year.
