Dylan Sakiyama, who shot much of the archival footage featured in the Rockford-shot, Oscar-nominated documentary “Minding the Gap,” passed away this weekend.

According to a GoFundMe set up to defer memorial expenses, Sakiyama died early Saturday, January 26th, of an unspecified cause.

“Minding the Gap,” a film about a set of Rockford skateboarders, was directed by Bing Liu and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.
