Kids are taught to eat well and exercise, but some might not take that advice seriously. However, the message carries more weight… coming from an NFL wide receiver.
Former Chicago Bear Marcus Robinson was at Rockford’s Gregory Elementary for the Bears Mini Monsters program. Similar to the NFL’s Play 60 campaign, Robinson was there to teach kids how to live a healthy lifestyle through football drills. Educators say exercise helps students improve in the classroom.
Anthony Stone, a P.E. Teacher Gregory Elementary School said, “We always want to keep the kids on their toes because besides learning in the classroom you also got to learn everywhere else, like for being an athlete, a student athlete, you have to be a student first, athlete second.”
Stone hopes to have students visit a farm later this year to see how food is grown to maintain a healthy diet.
