It’s an organization that has immensely grown since last year.
After trying to figure out what to do with her own old coats, one young girl founded an organization to collect them for those who need them the most.
In the sixth grade, Victoria Kuzlik started a coat drive called Coats for Hope as a way to give back to those who helped her through her own difficult times.
She was inspired by her and her father’s own stuggles with domestic abuse- they were victims of it about five years ago.
That struggle giving Victoria the motivation to help others.
Their goal this year was to collect at least 1,500 winter coats, but they estimate that so far, they’ve surpassed that number, and have collected about 5 thousand.
The Kuzliks say they still need monetary donations and will still be accepting them until January 31st .
100% those proceeds go to the five shelters they help.
So far they’ve collected about $8,000, but their goal is $20,000.
