Name of Milwaukee police officer killed Wednesday to be released

The identity of a Milwaukee police officer killed in the line of duty Wednesday night is expected to be released today.

The officer, a 17-year veteran of the force, was shot and killed by a suspect police were looking for who was wanted for gun and drug violations. That suspect is in custody.

A procession of officers escorted the fallen officer’s body Wednesday night from the hospital to the medical examiner’s office.
