(WTVO) — Following the same-sex episode of the children’s show “Arthur” last month, “My Little Pony” is set to introduce a lesbian couple on this Saturday’s episode.

Aunt Holiday and Auntie Lofty will be featured as a bona-fide lesbian couple in the final season of “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic”, according to the show’s producer.

Producer Michael Vogel confirmed on Twitter that the two were a romantic couple.

According to Buzzfeed, the episode has already aired in Europe. It will air in the U.S. on Saturday.

“I think it’s fantastic that we can show that what truly defines a family is love — that, to me, is the core of My Little Pony,” showrunner Nicole Dubuc said.

“Nicole and I thought this was a great opportunity to organically introduce an LGBTQ couple in the series, and we asked Hasbro and they approved it,” showrunner Josh Vogel said.

Last month, the children’s show “Arthur” ran an episode in which the character of Mr. Ratburn wed his husband in a same-sex wedding.

Alabama Public Television refused to air the episode, saying it would violate their audience’s trust.
