New Bill Would Make President Obama’s Birthday an Illinois Holiday

A Chicago representative introduced a bill to the General Assembly this week that honors President Barack Obama.

State Rep. Andre Thapedi (D) wants to declare the President’s birthday, Aug. 4th, a state holiday.  The bill is cosponsored by two other representatives.

The bill also states that if Aug. 4th falls on a Sunday, then the following Monday would be considered a holiday.
