More details have become available in Tuesday morning’s SWAT team standoff with a suspect on Rockford’s Jacqueline Drive.

Rockford police were called to an apartment complex in the 3100 block of Jacqueline Drive, shortly after 11 p.m. Monday night, on reports of gunshots. The officers surrounded the building and attempted to make contact with the persons inside for several hours without success.

The SWAT team and Hostage Negotations Team were then called to the scene. They were also unable to persuade the subjects to surrender.

A search warrant was obtained to enter the apartment. Once inside, the SWAT Team was able to take three adults, a male and two females, into custody. Two handguns were recovered from inside the apartment, but no one was injured.

Detectives from the Gang Unit conducted a follow-up investigation and charges were issued against Bobby Horton, Jr., 23, of Rockford, for Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.

Horton is currently lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
