SwedishAmerican broke new ground on it’s Creekside Medical Center at 3505 North Bell School Road on Wednesday.

The 70,000-square foot facility will contain 100 clinic rooms, 25 staff, and feature OB/GYN, pediatrics, family practice, internal medicine and endocrinology services. The clinic will have its own lab and medical imaging facilities.

“Today is another very exciting day for Swedes,” says SwedishAmerican President and CEO Dr. Michael Born. “As we continue to grow and expand our services in the community, we remain committed to providing convenient access to high-quality healthcare for our residents.”

The new medical center is expected to add 300 construction jobs when work begins this spring. It should be completed in 2019.

In February, SwedishAmerican’s $129 million expansion plan was approved, to construct a new women’s and children’s tower and modernize its main hospital campus in downtown Rockford. Also announced were plans to expand its services with the construction of the Riverwest Clini  on Marchesano Drive, and Edgewater Medical Center on Rockford’s northwest side.
