Nicor Gas announced Wednesday that they plan to reduce customer’s monthly rates in response to savings they received due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.
“Every customer deserves reliable energy at a price they can afford,” said Melvin D. Williams, president of Nicor Gas. “The benefits of the new tax law will lower tax expense for the company, and we are pleased to share that benefit with our customers.”
The Trump administration’s tax cut plan lowered Nicor Gas’ annual tax expense, resulting in a savings of $43.6 million for the company, which it plans to pass on to its 2.2 million customers in Illinois in the form of a $1.73 average monthly reduction in residential gas bills.
