Northern Illinois Red Cross needs help with fire safety campaign

The Red Cross is asking for volunteers to help them save lives in the stateline area.

On April 28th in DeKalb and May 12th in Rockford, the American Red Cross is looking for people to volunteer their time to participate in the nationwide “Sound the Alarm” home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event.

Nationwide, the Red Cross will conduct a series of events in more than 100 high risk communities, installing 100,000 free smoke alarms across the country.

“Sound the Alarm and be part of the nationwide Red Cross effort to help reduce the number of deaths and injuries from home fires,” said Joy Squier, chief communications officer of the American Red Cross of Chicago and Northern Illinois. “By volunteering with the Red Cross, someone can truly make a difference in someone’s life. Please join us and help Sound the Alarm by volunteering this spring.”
