Nurse creates Halloween costumes for NICU babies

A local nurse helps parents celebrate their child’s first Halloween while still in the hospital.

Joann Gorsline sewed 52 Halloween costumes for babies in the NICU at Mercyhealth’s Rockton campus.

Costumes ranged from Flintstones characters to a bunch of grapes.

Gorsline says she started working on the costumes in September, with a goal to create some happy memories for new families.

“This is a very stressful time for them, having their baby in an NICU and everything, so nurses will make little signs with footprints, make little Christmas things or something. So, families have all those things they can take home,” she said.
