COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Thursday, the Ohio Senate did not get enough votes to override Governor John Kasich’s veto of the heartbeat abortion ban bill.

The Senate voted 19-13; they needed 20 votes to override the veto. Kasich said the bill’s provisions are contrary to current Supreme Court rulings on abortion and would likely be struck down by the courts.
