Wednesday marks one year since the athletic dome at Hononegah High School collapsed in a winter storm.
On December 28, 2015, the dome collapsed in an ice storm. Students and staff were on holiday break at the time, and the dome was empty. There were no injuries.
Over the past year Hononegah officials have had to find alternative locations for gym classes that were previously held in the dome. They have also been working to find a replacement to the facility, eventually settling on building a multi-million dollar field house.
A $44 million referendum that would have, in part, funded the new field house was voted down back in November.
Construction for the dome’s replacement has yet to begin.
