OSF Saint Anthony dedicates renovated reception area to original 1959 donor

OSF Health System recognized the man that they say helped build their East side hospital decades ago.

“On Tuesday, OSF Saint Anthony named its newly renovated reception area after William H. McCoy, who helped raise $2.5 million to construct OSF’s East State Street location in 1959.

McCoy’s daughter, Anne Nagan, followed in her father’s footsteps, donating $500,000 to renovate the hospital’s reception area.

She says it means a lot that the hospital decided to dedicate part of the building to her father.

“He’s always had St. Anthony’s really in his heart, and so did my mother,” Negan said. “They are Rockford. All of their relatives came from Rockford. They were both raised in Rockford. And, they really care about the welfare of Rockford.”

The reception area renovation was part of OSF’s recent North Tower upgrade.
