Two men were arrested, and a third still at large, after they allegedly broke into a victim’s home and beat him with a baseball bat after he allegedly shorted them on beer.

According to Rockford Police, officers were called to the 1000 block of North Main at 1:17 a.m. on Sunday, February 17th.

There, officers met with the victim, who told police that he was in his apartment when someone knocked on the door. The victim told police the suspects pushed him inside his apartment and punched him three times in the face.

He then allegedly picked up an aluminum baseball bat to defend himself when Spence wrestled the bat away from him and struck him in the ribs with it.

The victim was then able to push the suspects out of the apartment and lock the door.

Police located both suspects within the same apartment building. According to police, Spence told police that the fight was due the victim shorting them on beer.

Both men are charged with Home Invasion Causing Injury.

They were taken to the the Winnebago County Jail.

Ledwa is currently not in custody.
