Guilford standoff

Rockford Police have confirmed that a nearly three hour standoff, which took place at a residence on Guilford Road Monday, was based on a false report.

Around 4 p.m. Monday, police were investigating the report of a person allegedly armed with a gun in the 2700 block of Guilford Road in Rockford.

Officers surrounded the home and when they entered the residence, it was empty.

It’s not clear if the call to police was a prank; the incident is under investigation.
