Police are investigating multiple reports of bomb threats at various locations across the United States, including locally in the Rockford area.
Police responded to threats in New York City, Chicago, Massachusetts and California, to name a few states.
None of the threats were deemed to be credible.
A message sent by email said a detonation would occur in the absence of a $20,000 Bitcoin payment.
The Rockford Catholic Diocese reported a bomb threat around 1:30 p.m. Thursday and the building was evacuated. Investigators searched the building with a HAZMAT crew.
Rochelle Community Hospital reported receiving a non-credible bomb threat this afternoon.
McHenry Police say two locations near Montini Primary and Montini Middle School were threatened, so both schools were evacuated.
