A Leland man is arrested after police say they found a stash of drugs in his car during a traffic stop.

Thursday, a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding near the intersection of Chicago Road and East Sandwich Road. According to investigators, the deputy was able to see a bag of drugs on the driver’s seat. Sandwich Police were called in to assist with a drug-sniffing K9 unit and reportedly found heroin, cocaine, and the prescription drug Clonazepam in the vehicle.

The driver, Jeffery Heth, already had a warrant out for his arrest from LaSalle County for Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Heth was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, and three counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.

He was taken to the DeKalb County Jail.
