JANESVILLE, Wis. (WTVO) — A Janesville man is in jail accused of pretending to be a police officer.

The incident happened on Rockport Road near Monterey Park Wednesday.

Police say Jeremiah Kemper, 34, tried to enter a locked car. The owner was fishing at the time. But, he noticed Kemper and confronted him. Investigators say Kemper identified himself as an undercover officer and pulled out a knife.

Kemper walked away when police were called.

Officers arrested him at the Center Avenue Bridge after a brief struggle. Kemper faces several charges, including impersonating an officer, resisting an officer, and disorderly conduct while armed.
