A police pursuit through three counties ended when Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies deployed stop sticks as the vehicle was headed westbound on Montague Road near the Ogle/Stephenson County line.
The pursuit began in Rockford as a report of a wanted man in a stolen car according to dispatch reports. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies, including those tasked to Machesney Park, pursued the vehicle out of Rockford and into the county at speeds that reportedly never exceeded 60 mph.
The vehicle being pursued eventually turned west onto Montague Road into Stephenson and then Ogle Counties, where deputies were waiting with stop sticks. The vehicle became disabled after hitting them, flattening three tires, and the driver was taken into custody without at around 4pm Sunday afternoon.
Montague Road was blocked off while the vehicle was removed and the scene processed.
Details on what other charges the man was reportedly wanted for other than possession of a stolen vehicle are unknown at this hour.
