SHOOTING AT FRANCHESCO-S_05717421

It proved to be a busy night for Rockford Police officers.

One of those calls was for a shooting at Franchesco’s.

Police say a man was celebrating his birthday and was denied re-entry when he left.

He retrieved a handgun from a car in the parking lot and fired several shots into the air.

Officials say a metro enforcement officer approached the vehicle, and the man pointed his gun at the officer.

That man has now been identified as 24 year old Mauricio Luna.

Officers were able to remove the gun from Luna, and secure it until Rockford police arrived.

He is now facing charges of the reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault, and violating concealed carry law while under the influence.

No one was injured, and no property was damaged during this incident.
