Police seek man who threatened ex-girlfriend with a knife

The Rockford Police department is seeking the public’s help in apprehending a man who forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and threatened her with a knife.

At 2:30 a.m. on Friday morning, Rockford Police officers were sent to an apartment in the 700 block of Lee Street on a home invasion call.

When officers arrived, they met with a female victim who reported that her ex-boyfriend, James Mills, 29, had forced her way into the apartment, grabbed a knife and threatened the victim, her adult male acquaintance, and five-year-old child.

Mills fled the scene when the victim called police.

A warrant has been issued for Mills’ arrest

The Rockford Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Investigations Bureau (779-500-6551) or Crime Stoppers (815-963-7867).
