Police officers filed into St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church Tuesday morning. The church hosted a prayer service to honor police, fire, and EMS workers. It’s one of many events in recognition of Northern Illinois Police Memorial Week.
“We do not want to forget these officers, whose lives have been taken in the line of duty,” said Lisa Leombruni of the Northern Illinois Multi-Jurisdictional Honor Guard Team. “The families still remain and it is very important for us to let them know that we still feel for them, we’re with them, we support them in every way.”
A Police Memorial Remembrance Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday to pay tribute to officers who’ve died in the line of duty.
