President Obama to Deliver Farewell Address to Nation from Illinois

President Obama will speak to the nation for the last time next week.

In a statement Monday, the president announced he will give his farewell address to Americans on January 10th. President Obama will not deliver his address from the White House like George W. Bush did in 2009. Instead, he will give it from his home city of Chicago.

The president says he is following the precedent set by George Washington. The nation’s first president penned the first farewell address to the American people over 220 years ago.
