A memorial service will be held by family members Sunday for Kyrian Knox, the 2-year-old who went missing in Rockford in August and whose remains were found in a lagoon in Chicago.
The private service will be followed by a public remembrance at the lagoon at noon on the same side of Garfield Park as the golden dome near the Central Park Street entrance. Family members say the remembrance will include prayers and the releasing of doves.
Knox’s disappearance and death remain unsolved, although Chicago Police said this week they searching for a ‘person of interest’ with Rockford ties and a connection to the family.
Rockford Police Asst. Deputy Chief Pat Hoey says Rockford detectives are in near daily contact with Chicago Police as they conduct their investigation.
