On Friday, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner (R) abolished 19 boards and commissions by executive order.

The entities that were eliminated have been inactive for five years or more, including some that were created for a special but temporary purpose which has been fulfilled. Others were removed for redundancy with other units of state government.

The Governor intends to eliminate 100 similar entities in the months ahead, out of 600 authorities, boards, commissions, councils, and task forces.
