Refinery Issues Contribute to Gas Prices Rising by Nearly a Dime in Rockford

Gas prices are up 8¢ over the past week in the Rockford area.

Fuel analysts with GasBuddy say that’s because of several refinery issues in the Great Lakes region. Those issues have also almost single-handedly caused the national gas average to rise by 1¢.

On Monday, average prices in Rockford were at $2.48 per gallon. That compares to the national rate of $2.43 per gallon.

The outlook isn’t all bad though. Prices are expected to decrease as temperatures continue to drop and less drivers head outside, weakening fuel demand.
