REFUGEE CHRISTMAS PARTY

News

Today around 40 people celebrated Christmas for the first time in an 8th Avenue Strong Home. Usually those involved celebrate Christmas at an office building, but this year they wanted to make it feel like home. A feat only possible thanks to the help of some local organizations.

The United Way and Local chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes kicked in to make sure no one went home empty handed this year. Christmas wasn’t the only thing these strong neighbors were celebrating though this year. Their bonus celebration is that it’s the end of their scholastic semester. Their teacher along with her children celebrated with the group.

A true time of the the year for celebration and according to Mustafa Abdall a United Way director a time for everyone to come together. “This really prove that this is Rockford where all of us live together and celebrate together as one family.” said Abdall.

The Strong Neighbors organization is hoping to better the community by leading by example.
