Republican Lawmakers Unhurt in Train Crash

An Amtrak train taking Republican lawmakers from Washington, DC to a retreat at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV has hit a truck at a crossing in Virginia.

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI 1st) was on the train, but no one aboard was hurt, including several other Republican Members of Congress.  Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL 16th) tweeted that he was not on the train.

Video from the scene indicates the train hit a garbage truck in the town of Crozet, VA.  ABC News is reporting that one person in the truck died while another was critically hurt.

The train was chartered for for a three-day issues retreat featuring appearances by President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence according to ABC News.  The train has derailed and it is unclear how Republicans will proceed to the retreat.
