The Chicago Rockford International Airport earns an award for its AAR Project.
The IL Public Airport Assoc. announced Monday that the airport has been chosen as the recipient of the 2016 Outstanding Achievement Award for the newly built maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility.
It’s expected to operate 24 hours a day while providing educational opportunities for Rock Valley College students. Airport Executive Director Mike Dunn says the recognition travels fast.
“We’re now receiving calls from people who want to be near AAR, on the MRO site or people who want to be or are associated with ABX ATI or the cargo operation that we have here,” said Mike Dunn.
The award takes into consideration innovate project delivery or funding, job creation/economic impact and significance to the Illinois airport system.
