Gov. Bruce Rauner (R-IL) just returned from a trade mission to Asia, and Rochelle’s Economic Development Director is back too.
According to some reports, the city is in the running for a new combo Toyota/Mazda car assembly plant. Jason Anderson can’t speak about that, but does feel the trip will bear economic fruit for the region.
“We really feel our delegation really felt that, at the end of the day, our trip to Japan will build many new relationships that will bring many more jobs to Illinois,” said Anderson.
Anderson said people may not realize how invested Japan is in Illinois. There are more than 600 Japanese companies doing business here, including Nippon Sharyo in Rochelle.
