ROCHELLE, Ill. (WTVO) — Rochelle High School signaled the unofficial start of summer by raffling away a car!
The school held its annual Renaissance Assembly on Friday. For each school quarter of perfect attendance, a student can put their name in the raffle, with a chance to win theater tickets, gift cards to local restaurants, and even a car.
All prizes are donated by the community.
Counselor Laurie Pillen said they try to get creative with entertainment at the assembly.
“I would say every year we try to outdo ourselves a little bit more. We’ve had gymnasts, we’ve had a conductor who conducted the band one year. We’ve just had a variety of different talents that we’ve used, and we also try and get the staff involved as much as possible. The kids love that,” she said.
The Renaissance Assembly has taken place for more than 20 years.
