Students interested in a career in aviation made their bid for potential jobs to local companies at Rock Valley College Aviation Career Education Center on Wednesday.
Twenty-five local companies were on hand at the center, located at 6045 Cessna Drive, to solicit resumes for open positions in the local aviation industry. Dozens of students and graduates got an opportunity to be exposed to a variety of employment options in general, commercial, and corporate aviation maintenance.
Aviation experts say there is a shortage of workers interested in aviation careers, and the program in Rockford is one of three statewide.
“The face that we will help a lot of people find lifelong careers, starting here, then people who are here offering employment, that just completes the loop,” said Mark Adolphson, Co-Chairman for RVC Aviation Maintenance Technology Program. “We’ve offered them the education. They’ve done well and now we can offer them job placement as well.”
This is the career fair’s fourth year recruiting local talent.
