Dozens of kids headed to Rock Valley College for a robot workshop.

RVC’s Learn Coding with Robots class allows kids a unique and cutting edge way to learn about computer programming.

The class teaches kids how to use coding to control their very own robot, Ozobot. Ozobot is an award winning robot that moves by following lines that you have drawn and you can customize what they do by changing the colors of the lines.

Associate Professor Chuck Konkol says this kind of technology and learning is a social activity, as well.

“This one they’re actually doing stuff together, technology together and that’s what’s cool about it, as well, because families can spend hours of time together working on a problem versus being in a separate room,” Konkol said.

Eyewitness News’ Mimi Murphy will feature Learn Coding with Robots in next Wednesday’s Education Matters.
