The Chicago-Rockford International Airport celebrated the departure of its first flight to Costa Rica on Friday morning.
Costa Rica joins Cancun and Punta Cana, Mexico as a travel option through Apple Vacations.
The new flight brought in passengers from all over the Chicago-Rockford area.
Erin Mugnaini, who was on the first flight this morning, said, “We’ve never been to [Rockford] before, so that was a bit of nervousness. But we’re here. It looks like an easy airport.”
Among the things tourists can do in Costa Rica: snorkeling, rainforest hikes, volcano tours, and white water rafting.
