Rockford Approves of $2.7 Million Loan for Cliffbreakers Upgrades

Rockford City Council signed off on a loan that green lights renovations at Cliffbreakers on Monday.

Aldermen approved of a $2.7 million HUD loan in a 10-4 vote.  The money will go toward fixing and expanding the West side hotel.  Projects managers say Cliffbreakers has a location that’s unique to the area, but transforming the hotel won’t happen overnight.

“Physically, it was in terrible condition,” said Neil Freeman of Aries Capital and Affiliates.  “Management was in terrible condition.  Little by little, we have tried to improve upon the property. It takes time.”

Freeman hopes to have the renovations completed within one year.
